The long version comes here...
Unfortunately, Elsinore and Denmark have gone crazy on Black Friday again, and it is a completely wrong development. Where it used to be 1 day, it is now weeks or the whole month. The small shops are already struggling to survive, while many large chains are knocking prices down, at any cost.
Yesterday I was in our local Silvan and was told that they expect 5,000 packages to fly through their package shop in connection with Black Friday. 5,000 packages! And that's just 1 Silvan. How crazy!
But it is not without consequences: When you pay a very low price for your goods, your city and your local shops simultaneously pay a very high price for the quirky, the different, those who dare and are passionate and give you good personal advice and who have chosen the shop's products with their heart because they have thought of YOU, and they risk disappearing.
And what's left? Then suddenly all that's left are the same identical giant stores, the chains that you see in every other city in Denmark. And how sad it becomes!
It can be hard to pass up Black Friday when you only have a tiny little store, and it can also be hard when it's a really good offer, but I can reveal that it gives the best feeling in your whole body. The combination of ice in your stomach, straight back and prices that the sweetest customers can count on, no matter what time of year they buy, gives a fantastic feeling in your whole body. I've tried it before, so I speak from experience, and I'm looking forward to repeating it.
I've said it before in my newsletters, and I'll say it again: In my opinion, it's also cheating the customers who bought yesterday and those who want to buy tomorrow!
That's why Puslespilsbutikken is going against the black tide, and everyone should be welcome to follow suit: Local stores, local merchants and you who shop online.
Do you also want to help ditch Black Friday? So lighten up, come down to town and buy your Christmas presents, your city calendar and gift cards in the stores that don't have a Black Friday sign in the window. It's actually the best thing you can do for your local community, because then you're helping to support those who dare not and who insist on giving you an experience and prices that you can count on. These are the stores that give your city color, an exciting surprising selection and that purchase and develop products with you in mind.
If you are not nearby, go online at www.puslespilsbutikken.dk and find the most beautiful puzzles in living memory, such as the popular Helsingør puzzle, which has NOT been reduced to a Black Friday price.
And then I just want to wish you a completely fantastic day. Stop by when you're in town anyway. I look forward to seeing you.
Greetings Bettina from the Puzzle Shop
